More Houses Broken Into, Too!

Police have revealed that three properties in Ruddington were also targeted during the weekend crime spree in our village. We reported yesterday about the vehicle break-ins on Kirk Lane. It appears officers were also called about three Friday night house burglaries nearby – on Loughborough Road, Elms Park and Sheepfold Lane. It’s known the Loughborough Road break-in happened during quite a short time period between 10.30pm on Friday night and 2.00am on Saturday (9th December). Criminals Target Kirk Lane Cars

Police have renewed their appeal to Ruddington residents to be vigilant after a new spate of thefts from vehicles over the weekend. Three vehicles parked at properties on Kirk Lane were targeted between 9pm on Friday (December 8th) and 8am yesterday. Some of the stolen items were subsequently found dumped nearby. Fake Note Warning

Ruddington shoppers and traders are being warned to be on the lookout for counterfeit currency ahead of this weekend’s big Christmas Fayre. We were first alerted to the scam by Julia Towers of Julia’s Kitchen who describes two young girls around the village who’ve been attempting to pass fake Scottish £20 notes in local shops. Distraction Thief Arrested and Jailed!

Nottinghamshire Police report they have arrested a man on High Street in the village today (Tuesday 7th November) on suspicion of a number of recent distraction thefts against elderly people. The 29 year-old was initially detained by three quick thinking office workers after he’d approached a 77 year old woman asking for change just after she’d used the Post Office cashpoint. Distraction Crime in Ruddington

Ruddington Parish Council warns it has been made aware of some incidents of distraction crime that have taken place in the village recently. One resident had £90 taken from her purse whilst speaking to a man of Eastern European appearance outside the Co-op on Church Street. The lady was approached and asked if she had any change. Construction machinery was left without power and speed safety signs went dark after thieves struck again in our area at the weekend. Rushcliffe Police are still on the lookout for the voltage-loving villains who stole several batteries from equipment being used in the works on Flawforth Lane in Ruddington overnight on Sunday 22nd October. Elderly and vulnerable residents in Ruddington are being urged to be vigilant after a spate of distraction burglaries in the area. Threat to Village Cashpoints

Police are asking villagers to keep our eyes peeled for a forklift truck stolen this week – fearing it may be used to commit cashpoint crime.
