Threat to Village Cashpoints

Police are asking villagers to keep our eyes peeled for a forklift truck stolen this week – fearing it may be used to commit cashpoint crime. It follows a spate of incidents around the area when such a vehicle has been utilised by crooks to rip ATMs from the outside walls of shops to try to steal the money. Ruddington has three such cashpoints. The latest warning follows the theft of a yellow-coloured Telescopic JCB Forklift (pictured) from Wysall village overnight on Tuesday (10th October) – which is only a short drive…

An Accident Waiting to Happen?

Drivers who park in our village centre are being reminded of the strict one-way system through the car park! It follows complaints to Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) about motorists using the entrance instead of the exit to leave the Church Street Car Park alongside the Co-op. This is despite the entrance on Church Street being both road-marked and signposted as ‘No Exit’ and the actual exit on Shaw Street also being clearly marked. Now, due to concerns for pedestrians and other drivers, to tackle the problem the Parish Council (which…

Ruddington residents are urged to remain vigilant against more possible attempted thefts. If you clocked any registration plates of suspicious vehicles…

Beware Techie Transit Tool Thieves

Police have issued a warning that there have been several overnight thefts of work tools, specifically from Ford Transit vans, reported in Ruddington. Vans targeted this week were on Bladon Road , Upper Canaan and Peacock Close. But police say there was no sign of forced entry to the vehicles – perhaps meaning that the thieves have been able to obtain the coded keys or some other hi-tech unlocking device to gain access. At around 3.30am on Tuesday (25th July) a man and a woman were seen to get out of a silver…

Dog Poisoning Fear in Rushcliffe Country Park

There are concerns there may still be a hidden danger to dogs and other animals in our Country Park after slug pellets wrapped in bacon were found there. A social media post by Rushcliffe Veterinary Centre states: “Just a word of warning, if you walk your dog on Rushcliffe Country Park, we have received notification that slug bait wrapped in bacon has/is being placed around the park.” It’s…

Car Cameras to Help Cops Catch Criminals

Ruddington Police expect to foil felons on four wheels now the Nottinghamshire Force has secured cash for a number of mobile Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras. Rushcliffe Neighbourhood Policing Teams, along with colleagues from Gedling and Broxtowe borough areas, will be the first in our county to get the devices after gaining funding from their local councils. The force claims this will allow local officers to be more proactive in catching offenders since the cameras – which can be mounted in patrol cars – automatically recognise vehicles that have been identified as linked to criminality. Sergeant Kulvinder Dosanjh…

Youth Centre Trashed

Police are appealing for information after Ruddington’s former “Body Centre” was broken in to and vandalised over the weekend. The damage was reported by Ryan Charlesworth who ran the building with his wife Rachel as a fitness club and community centre for over two years until they ran into financial difficulties last December. Ryan says: “Heart breaking enough to put so much effort into the place to then lose it. To see what some vandals had done inside was disgusting. They have pulled down half the ceiling, thrown paint everywhere, stolen youth club equipment and…
