Back in April we reported that Rushcliffe Borough Council had rejected plans to build 175 new homes on our Green Belt north of Asher Lane. The proposals (above) were lodged by land owners Space Foods Ltd in January after a previous application for 250 houses on the same site was withdrawn two years earlier. Now Space Foods is appealing to the Planning Inspectorate against Rushcliffe Borough Council’s refusal in an attempt to get this decision reversed. Mobile Mast Causes Further Disruption

Ruddington’s drivers and bus users are being warned to brace themselves for more delays on Wilford Road as new roadworks requiring temporary traffic lights begin there TODAY (Thursday 23rd November). The new mobile telecommunications pole on Wilford Road has been running on electricity from a large roadside generator since it was erected last month after connecting it to an existing mains power source was deemed to be unsafe. Following last week’s important public meeting on the future of Ruddington’s Green Belt in St Peter’s Rooms, Ruddington Parish Council has just published its own views – objecting to TWO of the proposed housing sites and also to the increased allocation of homes for our village. This is in response to Rushcliffe Borough Council‘s Local Plan Part 2 consultation which now earmarks Ruddington for 410 new houses – 64% more properties than the 250 first mooted. “Eyesore” Mast Causes Complaints

Ruddingtonians have taken to social media to express their concerns about a new fifty foot tall mobile telecommunications pole which was erected in our village last weekend. Rushcliffe Borough Council planners approved the new mast on Wilford Road in July after no objections to the proposals were received – despite the fact that it is on Green Belt land at one of our rural village gateways. Neighbourhood Plan Gets Approval

Ruddington Parish Council has given its backing to a new plan which, it’s claimed, will give village residents direct power to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood – and shape the development and growth of our local area. Ruddington Parish Councillors have voted in favour of recommending  just ONE additional site for potential Green Belt homes – off the A60 Mere Way roundabout (pictured). Ruddington residents can breathe a sigh of relief – for now – after Rushcliffe Borough Council rejected plans to build 175 new homes on our Green Belt north of Asher Lane. The proposals were lodged by land owners Space Foods Ltd back in January after a previous application for 250 houses on the same site was withdrawn just over two years earlier.
