An Accident Waiting to Happen?

Drivers who park in our village centre are being reminded of the strict one-way system through the car park! It follows complaints to Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) about motorists using the entrance instead of the exit to leave the Church Street Car Park alongside the Co-op. This is despite the entrance on Church Street being both road-marked and signposted as ‘No Exit’ and the actual exit on Shaw Street also being clearly marked. Now, due to concerns for pedestrians and other drivers, to tackle the problem the Parish Council (which…

Compulsory Parking Fees Introduced

If you’re visiting Ruddington’s Country Park this weekend here’s a timely reminder that you must now pay to park – or face a fine. Despite the largely negative public reaction to the proposed introduction of compulsory car parking charges – as we reported here on RUDDINGTON.info in February – Rushcliffe Borough Council has gone ahead with the mandatory £1 fee this month. Previously the £1 parking charge was by voluntary donation – meaning that some visitors chose not to pay it. Making parking charges compulsory is expected to raise an additional £20,000 in annual income for the cash-strapped council –…

Dismay at Pay & Display

It seems there has been a largely negative reaction so far to the planned introduction of compulsory car parking charges at our country park this June – even though it will still only cost us a pound! Currently the £1 parking fee is by voluntary donation – meaning that some visitors choose not to pay it. The same noticeboard suggests that regular users contribute £20 per year. Making parking charges mandatory is expected to raise an additional £20,000 in income for Rushcliffe Borough Council – who voted for the change at a meeting in December. Rushcliffe Country…

Roundabout Now?

Construction of a new roundabout in Ruddington is finally set to begin after being delayed almost six months by a failure to consult properly with affected properties. Originally work was due to start on the 26th of July last year at the Wilford Road/Clifton Road junction and should have been completed by the end of the school summer holidays. Following a four week consultation Nottinghamshire County Council rubber-stamped their new parking and waiting restrictions at a Highways meeting in October.  These include new double yellow lines in front of the Victoria Tavern Inn and adjacent houses on Wilford Road – and also the…
